Props

Going out to André J. Wow. Way to be yourself, dude.
You're right, something this outrageous goes so far beyond fashion boundaries that we're forced to just admire his freak flag. Man that's a short skirt! Balls.....

Maybe it was the green

Something drew me to this look from Andre 3000.
Something.
The seventies Carly Simon look on a man is a new one.

Men's Fall 2008 Milan Style Recap
Something horrific happened at the Prada Fall 2008 show. Miuccia created a collection inspired by the man-bikini, double collars, and skirts....being described as "weggie-chic":

That's just outright confusing.
Gucci likes their men in velvet straight-cut pants, embellished belts and a gypsy vibe:

And Bottega Veneta likes their men in wide-leg pants and uniform-inspired looks:
(The wide-leg cut shows hella-masculine and sexy in the suit below.)

Dirt & Leather

Sometimes I like seeing dirty boys out and about. And Ashley has a touch of this in her red carpet look, below.
You know she probably likes them unshowered with the faint scent of dirty money.
It's all about men that don't take themselves too seriously, but not if you have to sacrifice smell (as I suspect above). I think this threesome may be too dirty for me! I like a dirt-edge. More attitude; less vintage, hairstyling, and actual dirt.

Don't discount the Menswear
After poking through Neiman's with a super-stylish friend the other day, we ended up at men's sunglasses.
Recommended: checking there when shopping for accessories and shades! This goes for any men's section: i.e., I almost always buy something for myself at Service Menswear on Congress.
Hollister Hovey found those classic Gucci boots, above, half off in the men's section.
As for fragrances, my friend swears by the man-scents of Hanae Mori, Issey Miyake, and Jil Sander.
There something tough and sexy about sporting men's!

Daily dose of art

The above apparently goes both ways: Clearly, Ziggy switched it up by shopping in the ladies' department.
How sweet is that silver jacket?

Style terminology: Mangles

Stacked bracelets on a man, ala Johnny Depp: Mangles.
Ahh, yes. I believe that this look is categorized "homeless-chic". You know, where a bum on the corner of 1-35 wears this exact outfit (minus the wine goblet) and we drive faster; yet Johnny Depp can convince us that this looks sexy....and fashionable.

Men in Wintery Brights
I'm all for it.
Lance Avery Morgan stood out in this bright winter jacket last week. Just remember, as he did: it's crucial to keep the fabric weather appropriate!
Not a bad way to make an entrance! Approved.

More winter whites

As global warming continues to dictate fashion trends across the globe, white remains one of the hottest winter looks.
While I do love it year-round, the dress at top might be pushing it just a bit. I'd have to see the fabric.
Men's style trend: All black. Keep it simple, guys; this is a modern, elegant and chic way dress up this season.
Skinny ties, too.
And btw, that gal at the bottom looks really uncomfortable. Who is that?
Um...that's not good. It's Charlize Theron!
I thought it was Rachel Zoe!

Rockin' the Houndstooth

Zac Posen does houndstooth two different ways. This is a good trend for men; classic but fun.
Below, Mark Ronson makes it more casual (with Ann Dexter-Jones).
Men in coats that fall below the hip look so stylish and elegant. Unfortunately, Texas weather doesn't inspire a whole lot of our cowboys to make the splurge. Too bad, I'd like to see more of this around.

Men in black
Adrian Brody has been a fashion daredevil this year... and I actually like this look. I think he looks edgy and stylish without overdoing it.
He is wearing his style well. He's got it. (Whatever it is.)
Your boyfriend looks very sharp here, Amy. I guess the pimp walking stick didn't make it out tonight.
We're still gonna get drunk together. Then we're gonna stroll Madison Avenue with our walking sticks, beating back the papparazzi and laughing at private jokes.

Mr. Rogers-Chic

Did you ever think this guy's cardigan-over-the-shirt-and-tie look would resurface on red carpets in 2007? I bet he didn't!
David Beckham is wearing a roughed-up version of Mr. Rogers signature look at the Lions for Lambs premier in LA.
I think Justin Timberlake originated this. And I love it, all neat and disheveled, clean and dirty, reserved and sloppy.
Next...the Keds!

The manly man's style

Here's a few quick and easy tips to learn from Matthew:
1- unbutton a few buttons
2-cuff the sleeves
3-get a real tan
4-don't style your hair
5-throw on some hardware
There's definitely an art to looking like you aren't trying when you actually are, and Matthew's got it down.

Perfecting the pose
Jason Schwartzman seems to have adopted the popular chin dip/head tilt photo pose.
I still love him. He can pose and have his walking stick. I don't care.
And at the risk of being the over-complimenters, I like his hair too.

Was this ever not in?

It's official: The tie is back.
Whether your inspiration comes from Justin Timberlake, The Strokes or the polished suit by Michael Kors...the tie has returned. No more an indicator of a desk-job, but a stylized accessory that defines cool, sexy, confident men.
Skinny, patterned, dressed up, or paired with denim... it's all happening this season. (Well, all except those scary Looney Tunes ties from the 90's).
As my boyfriends above, looking polished is always in.

Shimmering Men

There's a silver jacket trend going on with men.
This guy at the top really pulls it off. (No idea why he's posing with Kenny G, though.)
But I'm not feeling it as a full suit!
The dude with Kenny G has the wrong shade of gray, BIG TIME.
I vote for Adrian (full suit and all). I like the skinny tie and the charcoal gray, unlike the Barry Manilo guy that you like.
(Lee-Hom Wang and Kenny G at the Los Angeles Premiere of "Lust, Caution"; Adrian Brody at the premiere of "The Darjeeling Limited.")

Feather Gone Wrong (again), Shrunken Tux and de la Renta's Dominatrix

Gotta love these three. They know how to stand out in a stuffy crowd!

How to make an entrance...

Flank yourself with two like-dressed hotties that make you look taller than you are.
(Prince, with Maya and Nandy McClean, opening the Matthew Williamson show in London; and entering the Golden Age of Couture Gala.)
