For you, Carla

Love this little sweet red sundress turned a little naughty. This would look so good on you, Car.
Thanks Ams! I love it. Something about honey blondes and red....it's always a good combo.
You would look really good in the recycled prom dress next door, shoes too. Can you believe that evening cape? Or the hair! Why am I standing next to her? My black nylons are losing their cool!

Birds we always watch

Agyness Deyn and Chloe Sevigny (center below), because they never cease being interesting.
Perfection is so out, as these forward ladies show.

Not that I am a fan of this particular look. But I love to see what Chloe is up to.
I'm not throwing roses at this look either, but I am a psycho fan of this jacket.
Chloe may overdo it, but you can pick this outfit apart and forecast a few upcoming trends, for instance a little bit sheer + a little bit of exposed underwear = hot this spring.

Color me pretty

I have to say the Shields is not looking her best here. This dress is not only drab, it's pretty unshapely. On a brighter tune, Elfman, who I don't think we've ever complimented, looks totally interesting. Good use of color without going overboard.
Brooke looks preg. Or is it the angle? Whatever, this dress is wrong for her. It needs someone uber-skinny.
I do like Jenna's color palette. Different. Interesting. And it wouldn't scare men, as many "interesting" combos tend to do.

Sofia and a question

Sofia Coppola, in Fendi.
Amy Winehouse and Karl Lagerfeld, also at the Fendi fete in Paris.
Which brings my question: I was recently considering wearing a bra under a strapless dress. (By recently I mean today.) I suspect a little freshness there but it teeters on stale. I think as long as it doesn't get too Dolce and Gabbana, it remains acceptable.
Noway. Don't do it. For some reason, showing bra seems more daring than having a neckline that falls at your belly button. How does that work? Am I right?

Sour puss
I've never really been a fan of the tiered look...and Keira is not doing much to convince me.
I think this dress is really pretty! It sits a little low on her bod, but otherwise, it's chandelicious. Which is good, if not over-accessorized.

Ladies in Black: Part II

So the LBD is in full force.
Jessica Biel should never take this dress off.
Here we are again with the long black dress. Can we throw an event to wear this to?
We need to come up with something. Doesn't Mary-Kate sport long black dresses to parties all the time? Can we do that too?

More Gucci looks

Madge and Lourdes look fab, despite the Gucci shoe problem that is emerging. My fashion idol, Carine Roitfeld, avoided showing the questionable footwear by going long with a floor sweeping ruffle.
Move over little black dress, it's all about the long black dress. Seriously, this is so sexy and understated; do you think we can wear these out?

Ladies in Black

The LBD gets a workout in all shapes and styles in New York. The J. Mendel, above, is a sure standout.
Nice shoes Christy Turlington!
Always a good idea, the LBD.
(Christy Turlington Burns, in Chanel; Doutzen Kroes; Carine Roitfeld; Hana Soukupova; Anja Rubik, in J. Mendel.)

Risky Business

Just purchasing red tights is risky.
Then actually wearing them?
But here it is: She managed to pull off red tights. Very well, might I add! This is a rare, rare sight and I have to admit, I am impressed and inspired.
Unbelievable. This girl has some mad style....

Partying in Paris

Frills and craziness abound at this French fete, but all is done so beautifully! I want to pull out clown necks and ruffled sleeves and wear them around town after seeing these risk-takers above.
The undone hair and makeup (Dita aside) is just what these dresses demand. Not always the forte of Texans.
(Natalia Vodianova, in Givenchy Haute Couture, with Carine Roitfeld, in Christopher Kane, at Sidaction's Le Dîner de la Mode gala; Dita Von Teese, in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture; Mariacarla Boscono, in Givenchy Haute Couture, with Riccardo Tisci and Natalia Vodianova.)

Party Frock

One of my fave stylish gals: Jessica Stam, delish in Doucette Duvall.
Me too! As usual, she is rocking this outfit nicely.

Imagine with clunky black shoes

Ok, she could've improved her shoes.
But Alyssa's dress is otherwise worn very well.
Even though she has that look in her eyes like she's going to beat me up if I say something wrong, I'll say it anyway, I don't like it.
The hair just falls, no rhythm. Her makeup is drab, light accessories and she is in desperate need of color, or a smile.

Get fearless

These gals know how to mix it up and get it right.
Let's all make a pact to be brave this holiday season. Not to overthink. Go with your gut, and wear it with attitude. Whatever it is!
Right on! As long as the metallic suits stay curbed.
(Of course it helps when you can afford Chloe!)
(Blake Lively, Leslie Feist, Julia Dunstall, in Chloé, at the Guggenheim Young Collectors Council Artist's Ball. Bottom, Natalia Vodianova in Diane Von Furstenburg.)

When in Miami

DO color.
But leave Pucci out. When is this line going to do something creative? I'm tired of looking at their web of colors in the most hideous designs ever. Even Liz Claiborne to the right looks better.

Hot dress

Eva Mendes hawks Campari in Antonio Berardi, with jewels by De Grisogono.
Hot color! A little overwhelming, but it hits the spot...like a shot of tequila. I've never had Campari, so I can't use it as the reference.
She's promoting her limited edition Campari calendar, which has her lolling around with scantily clad men, sipping Campari:
![]()
666's high concept photos are better than these.
I know, how original.
This is a limited edition calendar, and they are only printing 9,999 of them. Yawn. Is there really that much of a demand? And seriously, who even drinks Campari?
Latinos?
Salma Hayek also starred in a recent Campari campaign. Same style. Another yawn.

More winter whites

As global warming continues to dictate fashion trends across the globe, white remains one of the hottest winter looks.
While I do love it year-round, the dress at top might be pushing it just a bit. I'd have to see the fabric.
Men's style trend: All black. Keep it simple, guys; this is a modern, elegant and chic way dress up this season.
Skinny ties, too.
And btw, that gal at the bottom looks really uncomfortable. Who is that?
Um...that's not good. It's Charlize Theron!
I thought it was Rachel Zoe!

Silvery sweet

I'm seeing silver everywhere.
It's the glimmering shade of the holidays!
I do anticipate controversy over Kate's shoe choice. But I think she looks mighty adorable ...and here's to taking a risk!
Have you noticed that Kate Hudson is one of the very few celebrities that actually smiles? How refreshing.
However, I see too much Paula Abdul in her outfit, not good. Risk-taker, yes. Fashion regret, absolutely. Bell's dress captures the gray sparkle in a more modern, sexy approach.
A Paula comparison. Harsh. Please let me never be compared to her! But I stand by what I wrote. I like! I would only make a Paula shot if she had on, like, six more accessories.
Nope, I insist this is a Paula.....
(Byrdie Bell, in Dolce & Gabbana; Kate Hudson in the same; Mark Ronson.)

Chanel lovers unite

Kate mixes Topshop and Chanel, and busts out a new tux jack; Justin Portman with Natalia Vodianova, in Chanel (of course). Like that little wind-whipped sailor girl look. Maybe not in the dead of winter, but it's still working for me.
HOT & HOT.
