Flawless at Flawless
Even without hot stuff on her arm, Demi looks radiant, youthful and incredibly sexy at the premiere of her new film Flawless.
I bet her beauty routine is expensive and a little nutty, but whatever she is doing works.
Ok, I think you are right on with that. I bet that she's about tried it all. But she looks fabulous in this picture and in this dress. That color is vibrant and hot. But I have always loved her hair. It's always so healthy looking and beautiful; what an asset.
I read a while back that she only washes her hair with Evian water.
Stop it. This must be an urban legend. Or is this a modern day Laura Ingalls?
I just found this on Christina Aguilera's MySpace:
"Once I'd made my mark in the United States, I moved to Britain, where I picked up another trick of the trade. Bathing in Evian water. The same tap water is used to fill your bath as your toilet and that's just not my style. I like my whole body to feel refreshed and vibrant. Evian is the only way to bathe. I just wish my friends Kate Moss, Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz had told me before. In Miami, I stayed at the Hotel Victor, which creates a whole Evian experience for its visitors and gives you a luxury heated bath filled entirely with Evian water. Evian water is an essential part of being a successful singer and performer. Evian's a star."
Are. You. Kidding?
I am considering putting this hair theory to the test! Carla?
Even though the toilet water comment almost got me, I'm going with N-O. This is totally outrageous. An optimal alternative is to install water filters throughout your entire house (showers included).

Now that's a ruffle
Flawless execution of the mega-pronounced ruffle, and further inspiration for your new Parisian look, Amy.
Holy uber-ruffle. She looks smashing. Although there's a little voice inside me that says men completely won't get this. Men are intimidated by large ruffles.
But who cares. I'm feeling the Parisian thing right now. Check out these Sartorialist pics for serious inspiration.

Theory: Poor man's Botox

A friend of mine recently told me that her 79-year-old father puts Scotch tape all over his face every single night to reduce wrinkles. She said that he looks 59!
It's an actual beauty "secret."
I'm a sucker for anti-aging "secret" strategies that could be described as strange, somewhat-logical and cheap. Like I'm still using Preparation-H a couple times a week as an evening eye cream after reading that it was one of the best weapons used to combat crow's feet. Truth is I LOVE IT and scotch tape may be the new addition to my evening routine.
I do like my botox but I am concerned about the lines around my mouth, but if you start messing with those (with filler, Restylane, etc), you can end up looking like this:

Something is just off about their faces. You've seen it.
YES. No facial expression lines looks far worse than fine lines.
But of course, no one wants to wake up next to this:
And I don't know if I could even sleep with my face taped up.
But who's to say to what extreme lengths vanity will go!

Signature style or affectation?
Arden Wohl's penchant for headwear is not going to catch on, because it's not cute.
But that said, she obviously likes it, and I like her "Screw it" attitude. Perhaps it's her signature look, like Lagerfeld's sunglasses. (Although he's earned that.) But there have always been fashionable women who embraced what felt right to them.
So I haven't met her. Maybe she wants attention. Or maybe it suits her and is perfectly reflective of her.
However, Cynthia Nellis writes a few rules about establishing a signature style:
- Use your signature style to camouflage flaws or draw attention to your best features.
- Try not to cross the fine line between signature style and affectation.
- A signature look can be something as sentimental as a charm bracelet or as breezy as brightly colored pantyhose: just make sure it feels like you and fits your personality and lifestyle.
More often than not, I applaud and admire the rule-breakers. Winter white? I'm there. But this idea of roping a decorated sash around my head is too ridiculous to admire or adopt.
Signature style works, and it's proven. Being married to the same scandalous accessory (that you design) is no Jackie O.

Theory: Pretty Woman Inspired Trends

Big hair, black lace chokers. Thigh-high boots. Carol Channing wigs. Looking like a hooker.
Big hoops too.
It sounds like I'm only describing Britney Spears, but even cute women are doing the thigh-high boot thing (of which I am not a fan):
Call me a street walker, but I actually like them. Sure, within boundaries, like no vinyl and such, and definitely not with dresses; but I think that plain leather boots worn slightly above the knee look sexy.

Come to think of it, Vivian Ward did do a lot of the belted look. And let's not forget opera gloves, red lips, and thick brows.

Are we liking this?

Sure, she's annoying, and sure, she's knocking off Madonna (and a load of others...).
But overall, she looks good for Courtney Love, no?
An enthusiastic YES! I love that she's putting herself on the radar again, attending fashion shows, hanging out with our favorite British girls and making me double-take for Madonna.
You never know what to expect from this one...

She's at it too
Add Kelly Preston to the list of reverse aging celebrities. At least from this distance.
Looking Good Preston....
(Kelly looks great at a visit to "Late Night with Conan O'Brien.")

More reverse aging

Elle Macpherson is 43 and looks like that.
And Elizabeth Perkins has been around for a hundred years and has started looking better than ever.
Hopefully this is contagious!

Not sure what well these women are drinking from. A lot to live up to, yet inspiring.
