Cavalli & Co.

Roberto and Katie Holmes (in Cavalli). Those shoes are sexpot divaness.

Taking notes from Tom?

His own style is getting more polished all the time. Marc Jacobs has definitely gone all hot on us.

Sexy suit
, but isn't the hair a bit much? I actually prefer the longer chop below.

What a difference a year makes:

Do we need this? Really?

Add Gisele to models-going-designers: she's creating a capsule collection called Bundchen by Dolce and Gabbana (to be released early March).

How many lines of clothing can one world support? Do any of them actually stand out? I declare this Tired and Boring!

She should think up a documentary on hot Brazilians or create art for dogs or design cigarette cases or really anything but whip up
another bunch of sequins for people to throw on their backs.

At least he's up on the tux jacket

Why is it that you can't hit a fashion event without being startled by the fashion choices of your favorite designers?
Ricky and Ralph Lauren's saddled-up outfits win the best disaster at the CFDA/Vouge Fashion Fund Awards Dinner.

It's really bad when you can't tell if someone is in costume or not. I find myself wondering if they're at a theme party or something. She's ready to perform at Medieval Times.

Dead weight

In another case of "Who's Dressing You" we've spotted Carolina Herrera at the Met for the Apollo Circle Benefit, in her own design.

Doesn't this fur accent seem oddly exaggerated? It's too much fur to be worn as a scarf and the gather-at-the-front mess is is very distracting from the intended glamour.

Frump city.

The man the ladies love

A celebration for the red-sole creator, Mr. Christian Louboutin pictured with Ashley Olsen.

Great style everywhere- I love taupes for fall especially paired with black tights like Molly Sims, and of course basic- Rachel Bilson style.

A re-occurring fall must have? A worn-in brown leather jacket to dress up or down.

Take note on Molly's shoes, though. Not the best choice. A little bootie or something closed-toe would have garnered a much nicer response from me!

Bilson looks gorg, as usual.

The Red-Sole Obsession

Yes, we all adore those red soles. I got to wondering about the history of them and just who Christian Louboutin is, and I found this nice article.

Currently he is attempting to trademark the red soled look due to lots and lots of mimickers.

But what's better? The knockoff ideas, like the Louboutin Manicure!

Hey, they're just following his lead...he started by using nail polish on soles.

Read on:
According to an article by Susie Mesure in The Independent,

"Louboutin first used the red sole "by accident", applying red nail polish on a whim to "energise" his creation in 1992. "The shiny red colour of the soles has no function other than to identify to the public that the shoes are mine... It attracts men to the women who wear my shoes," he told the US Trademark Office."

The trademarking is long overdue, if you ask me! Til then, paint away.

That Lilly Allen, such a rebel. That's just like her to stick her ratty shoe out the window and present her nail-polished Louboutin impostor.

I hope this look is trademarked sooner rather than later; we may start seeing some crazy concoctions. Louboutin hair? I bet it's out there...

(Top to bottom: The man himself,
the Louboutin Manicure, Lily Allen.)

I think she'll like the Balenciaga collection

Seeing Cynthia Rowley all gussied up here worries me. The shoulders? The fabric?

I think that maybe this is some desire to be futuristic. Will it catch on?

I sure hope not! I'm convinced that the future will bring fashion unlike any of the predictions made in 2007. All of the space-invading suits and collisions of metallics cannot be what's in store for us. Cynthia Rowley, s
top scaring Amy.

Yikes!

Donna! My goodness! Reconsider that covered-up look!

This look is not really working for either of them. It's hard to get the all-black look this wrong.

Man, that 'do is killing me....it's parted from a the middle of her head. Geeze....

Togas R Us

Enough with this Urban Zen... that's just some downright unflattering and costumey clothing!

And of course Debra Messing likes it...

Nothing like topping your toga off with a pair of white tennis shoes.

Who's Dressing You?

Donna Karan is definitely overloaded with scarves, sweaters, and a blanket off the couch.

I think she's trying to smuggle a bottle of wine into the party.

Bag lady chic.

This looks so cumbersome and uncomfortable to me!

Another Long Dress

Dig the style...and the designs...of Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock (left, in her own design).

Vena Cava can be found at Blue Elephant. $$$.

That's a HOT dress on the left. I didn't find anything else as hot on the website.

Get a grip

You simply HAVE to check out what the designer crowd wore to the the CFDA New Members Party hosted by Diane Von Furstenburg. Don't miss CFDA darling Thom Browne.

Unofficial word from a party-goer? Everyone was totally overdone. And the food was insanely small (but isn't eating soooo '05?).

Men: Dark denim paired with any (solid color) top is one of the easiest and sexiest looks you can do. No need for all of the dizzy patterns, pastels, hats, scarves, tennis shoes, etc.

Ladies Highlights: Jean Yu, perfect minimalist. Diane von Furstenburg, beautiful. Cynthia Rowley, what the hell?

(Above: Rachel Roy, Adam Lippes of Adam + Eve, and Lela Rose.)

Really weird trend alert...

Apparently there are pairs of men running around in the Hamptons dressed alike.

LOL! Let's hope this doesn't catch on.

(Rolf and Viktor, Watermill Center benefit; B Michael and Mark Anthony; Andrew Andrew...wearing...dare I say...Sperry Top-siders?)

Oh, please!

Why why why is the fashion world soiled with things of this nature?

This is Isaac Mizrahi's tranny-Charlie Brown, for Metlife's group show during NY's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Sept 7, 6pm).

Those finding inspiration in Peanuts characters, of all things? Heatherette, Isaac Mizrahi, Betsey Johnson, Pamella Roland, and Project Runway alum Laura Bennett. That sounds about right.

How much are they getting paid?

Whatever it is, it's too much. I think it's safe to say that Lucy Van Pelt is not a fashion icon and would be very surprised to be stirring inspiration for designers in 2007.

Who's dressing you?

Sometimes it scares me to see who's behind the designs. Shouldn't we want to look as stylish as the designer? That's Nicole Miller on the right.

LOL!! I know what you mean....
